What is the Sports Premium?

The Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22 to provide new, substantial primary school sport funding.  This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. For the academic year 2022-23, schools will again be receiving funding for the development of sport.

The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.

Purpose of the funding

Staniland Academy is committed to ensuring broad, high quality provision in Physical Education and Sport. In ensuring that our community can realise increased participation in PE and Sport, all of our pupils can be encouraged to develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
